Anachronism
I've made another testrender of an animation. I didn't use raytracing to speed things up. Ofcourse the contents is not correct either. There were no mummy's in Ziggurats. But it's fun. I'll try to make another render where the Ziggurat is shown better. But I still have to work on the UV-Map too. And I'm not really happy with some parts of the texture either.

Mummy
This is something else I'm working on. It still needs some work, but it already looks great, certainly in animation. I'm planning on making a rig for it so I can animate it for real. But I wait because I make this for a publishing company.

The design of this Mummy was also made by Koen Deleu. Working together makes it really much easier to be productive. I'm sure we'll do a lot more work together.

logo in 3D
I've been working on some things that might just make me earn some money in doing 3D. There still is some work on it, and I might to make an animation with it for on a website, or for other kinds of publicity. Here's a render :

The design of this logo was made by Koen Deleu, a friend of mine I'm working with. We're working on a website, but it isn't online yet.
More work coming up soon.

Long time no writing, you would think...
I've been very silent, I know. Here's an update.
The work I do, takes a lot of time. On top of that I'm trying to change work. Working as a librarian makes me too stressed. I can't focus on other things, and I always have to focus real hard on the job. Trained as a library-assistant, it's a hell of a job to do the tasks of a librarian, certainly when you have never really worked in a library before.
On top of that I've started to study again. From now on I'm a student at the Open University. I must be crazy, I know, and, I am.
My project doesn't slow down though, even if it seems like it. I just don't work on the actual 3D work very often right now. If you visit my website.. www.bartart3d.be and click through to the wiki, you can see what I'm doing. I'm rewriting my book, continuing the work on the storyboard and on the script.
Right now I'm in another 'planning-phase'. Now my plan looks like this:
-Publishing the book
-Publishing the comic (based on the storyboard)
-Publishing music (soundtrack of the movie)
-Publishing the movie
It seems as if the project grows, but it doesn't. This way of working might give me the advantage of attracting people to join in, and make it known to the public. At the same time, I just might earn something back for all the time I'm spending on it. As you can see, I use the materials needed for the movie, not adding things to it. The only thing that will cost more time, will be finding ways to publish. But there are possibilities.
My continuous effort to work on this project has payed off a bit. I've won something. My project has won the "Project of the week" or "POW" award of CELTIX. I was really surprised when I got the mail. I've had a T-shirt, some stickers, and some publicity on their blog and website. It gives me the feeling I do achieve something by doing this, even if it is a small achievement.

reactions
I've made a second blog to express my anger and fears about a certain group of people that have a big influence in the USA. They are called 'creationists' and claim the bible to be the only true source of knowledge, including the scientific knowledge. It is a really dangerous way of thinking, that shoots us back in time for about a 100 years. In my opinion it is a fundamentalist way of thinking, which is dangerous for democracy. In our democratic societies we have struggled hard to separate religion from politics and science. They throw it all together again by calling the bible as the only source of knowledge.
I just have to react, and therefore I've made this second blog, in which I criticize all articles written on a certain website. I decided to write it in Dutch, because the articles I write about are in Dutch too. And I will let them know I'm doing this. Too many people get influenced by this idiotic group. It is frightening that in the Netherlands you get the amount you donate back from taxes!!!! It makes me shiver.

texture experiment
I've made a rendering, an attempt, or experiment with a texture for the floor. Keep in mind that the texture itself still is in development. It has been a while since I tried a texture, but this definatly is one I'm going to use as a basic one to keep on working.

I again had some problems with my system, had to re-install everything, again, after a failure of the upgrade. Again I have problems with Ubuntu and Blender. I don't get any sound out of it, again. I've already tried building it from cvs, and recompiling libsdl, but this time it seems not to be enough to get sound working in Blender. Anyhow, I do can model, texture, and render images. Let's focus on that untill my 'sound-problem' gets solved.
I've read about a project called 'Studio-Ubuntu', and I hope this will be an interesting alternative. If it will install on my computer, it might be the solution to the audio-problem, and the wacom problems I have now. I hope they have read the threads in the Ubuntu forums, and have modified the original Ubuntu enough to solve these problems.

lightning experiment
I've made a rendering, to experiment with the lightning. It is done on one candle holder only, for the second one, I still need to add the lights. I already have long rendering times, also because the candle holder material is with ray traced reflection.
I've also added some renderings in my Picassa-Album. It's an interesting way to show pictures.
